This past Saturday, Tori, Craig, and myself took our grade 10 small groups up to Horseshoe Valley for an afternoon of Snow Tubing. It was a brand new experience for me. I mean, I’ve been on those rubber inner tubes they used to run up at MBC (which probably explains my initial trepidation in taking a group of grade 10 students tubing). As it turns out, however, this was nothing like that.
It was a lot of fun and a great community building experience for both of our groups. I generally heard positive feedback and many of them requested more events like this in the future.
More than anything, this was really a chance to see my vision for Sr. High in action. I truly believe that small groups are going to be the core communities that Sr. High is made up of. As we move along, I hope to see more and more events like these happening through the context of small groups. The potential for community growth and relational connection is made all the more possible in these kinds of settings.
Thanks so much to everyone who helped make this event possible by lending us your vehicles, your house, your children, and your support. Looking forward to seeing more of these happen soon!
